Medical Students:
This membership category is specifically tailored for medical students aspiring to pursue a career in endocrine and thyroid surgery. It caters to individuals who are currently enrolled in medical school or are at the foundation years of their postgraduate training (up to ST2 level). As part of this membership, medical students gain access to a wealth of resources, educational materials and networking opportunities within the field of endocrine and thyroid surgery. By joining BAETS at this early stage of their career, medical students can engage with experienced professionals, stay updated on the latest advancements and foster connections that can significantly contribute to their future success in the field.

Corresponding Member
A consultant member who is actively involved in the management and treatment of endocrine and thyroid disease but who is resident outside the United Kingdom.

Senior Member
A consultant member who was actively involved during their career in management and treatment of endocrine and thyroid disease and has now retired.

Terms and Conditions of BAETS Membership

As per the BAETS Constitution, surgeons can submit an application online.
•    Surgeons wishing to join BAETS as an ordinary member can apply by clicking on the button below. Members will need to provide their GMC Registration number to info@baets.org.uk.

At the point of membership application / renewal, ordinary members are required to electronically acknowledge that:

•    They undertake thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal surgery or pancreatic surgery  (or  none  of  the above for retired members)
•    They understand that voting rights within the BAETS will be granted as stipulated in section 6 of the BAETS Constitution
•    Data submitted to the national audit will be available for public review as per Department of Health requirements unless the applicant specifically withdraws consent for this process (NB future statutory changes within the NHS may supersede any ability of members to withhold consent).

Members of the Association must not declare their membership as confirming or implying any clinical or technical competence in the practice of Endocrine and/or Thyroid surgery.
